President Rodrigo Duterte revealed that actress and former first daughter, Kris Aquino texted him pleading not to incarcerate his brother former President Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III.
According to President Duterte, the actress sent him a message begging him not to imprison her brother.
Talks of a possible case being filed against the former president have been going around due to his supposedly questionable involvement in the tragic Mamasapano incident that claimed the lives of 44 PNP SAF officers.
President Duterte did not reveal any details regarding the text message supposedly sent to him by Aquino. According to an article published by Inquirer, Duterte only had the following words to say about the matter:
“Si Kris nag-text. Sabi, ‘Huwag mo namang ipakulong si Noy."
The president briefly mentioned the message from Aquino while he was giving a speech at the International Convention in Pasay for the unveiling of a new campaign from the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
The president claims that he is not out to find faults in anyone, especially those committed by former officials. He only wants to "give the Filipino people the truth", he said. 2017 marked the second anniversary of the Mamasapano tragedy. During a ceremony conducted for the occasion, Duterte dared former president Aquino to reveal the role he played in the planning of the operation.
Duterte is counting on an indeendent commission dedicated to the investigation of the Mamasapano operation to reveal the truth once and for all.
