The complaint filed by lawyer Abelardo De Jesus against Senator Leila de Lima that accused her of having links to illegal drug trade was tackled by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Tuesday.
Senate Majority Leader and Ethics Committee Chairman Vicente Sotto III says, the lawmakers may vote on the matter of jurisdiction next week.
“We should act on it as soon as possible,” Sotto said.
The matter on jurisdiction was raised by Senator Franklin Drilon and Senator Panfilo Lacson.
Atty. Karen Jimeno served as general counsel for the committee.
She said, the complaint’s form and substance must first be determined before the question on jurisdiction.
De Lima had previously described the complaint as another harassment tactic against her by her enemies.
