Mayor Rolando Espinosa of Albuera, Leyte and his son Kerwin Espinosa was given 24 hours to surrender by President Rodrigo Duterte on their alleged involvement in drug trafficking, said Malacañang on Monday.
In a statement from the Presidential Spokesperson:
Today, President Rodrigo R. Duterte demanded the surrender of Mayor Ronaldo Espinosa Sr., of Albuera, Leyte and his son, Kerwin Espinosa, on the grounds of drug-trafficking and coddling, within 24 hours, otherwise an order of "shoot on sight" will be given if they resist and endanger the lives of arresting police officers.
It was reported that 237 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.9 million were seized by authorities in a buy-bust operation last Thursday near the houses of the Espinosas.
Arrested during the operation were Mayor Espinosa’s two bodyguards and three employees.
A newspaper report earlier said Mayor Espinosa had gone on leave.
