The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will build up a one-stop shop where overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) can get the prerequisites needed for their jobs abroad.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said this is as per President Rodrigo Duterte's mandate to make it less demanding for OFWs to avail government services.
"The one-stop shop is a piece of the endeavors of the Department to understand the mandates of President Rodrigo R. Duterte to make the services of government offices available to Filipinos who are at present working or wanting to work abroad," he said in an announcement Wednesday.
Although Bello did not say when the "one stop shop" will be put up, he however said that it will incorporate facilitative services that intend to make the issuance and approval procedure of documents prerequisites simpler and more advantageous for OFWs, particularly to returning migrant workers.
Bello said Filipino laborers applying for work abroad ought to have the capacity to get every one of the clearances they require, including those required by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the police and health services, in only one spot.
Aside from shortening the processing of their documents, Bello said the one-stop shop will likewise decrease the costs for OFWs since the concerned government services will now be available in only one area.
Beside the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the one-stop shop will likewise incorporate other government offices, for example, the DFA and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
