The P120-million project developed by DOST’s Metal Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) in 2013 is a testament that we can rely on our very own scientist and engineers to solve the country’s transportation issues.
Science Secretary Mario Montejo said that the hybrid electric train can store the energy it generates when it runs and stops on a battery installed on board which is very energy efficient in contrast to the current PNR trains.
However, the train is still undergoing “rigorous safety testing” before it is available for public use said the (MIDRC).
