Legislators from different political parties were impressed by President Rodrigo Duterte inaugural speech saying that it was "short but powerful", they said that it brought back the trust of the people in the government.
Representative from Davao City, Karlo Alexei Nograles said that the speech had let the Filipinos see what should be expected from Duterte’s administration — straightforward, unembellished but unpretentious.
Quezon Rep. Danilo Suarez, who plans to become part of the minority group in the incoming 17th Congress, described Duterte’s speech as "meaningful."
His administration “is committed to implement all signed peace agreements in step with constitutional and legal reforms,” Duterte said in his speech
He pointed out the positive reaction Duterte's call for peace has generated from the Moros, and said he is looking forward to the participation of other parties to ensure inclusivity in the peace process.
